Walking in a Winter Wonderfest

Jonathan

A advertisement for the Navy Pier's Fifth Third Bank Winter Wonderfest, opened 30 November 2018.

I was dreaming about it last week, and was hoping to be made happening on last weekend, but they kept putting me out in the cold! Darn! Finally, on yesterday which I was called to work Monday for an additional schedule fill-in, I experienced a lot of thrills and a lot of decorations inside the Winter Wonderfest on Navy Pier. The current sponsor for this event is Fifth Third Bank, the same supporter of the new Family Pavilion; and the partner of this sponsorship is Hilton Hotels, home of the Hampton Inn (which YT user TjElevatorFan https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCsfocg4o2q9GOhIjpSO7Dg likes) and all Hilton-branded hotels. First, I was placed at the Polar Extreme, but turned out there's not another staff member to scale people on the other side yet, so I switched over to the Kringle Carousel. I was the one to hold the scale to make sure that each child is over at least 42' and up to ride themselves. Over 36' must be ridden with an adult and under 36' will have to ride the red sleigh with a parent. The operator straps the guests to make sure they are riding safe and without falls. Then once it's all clear, the operator holds the pedal completely and presses the green 'go' button to make it run. It spins around for at least 3 minutes. Then, my job was to keep scaling people until the event closes for the night. It was a fun experience working inside Wonderfest. Then I saw a beautiful dancer rising up on the ceiling and they play a certain classical-esque/EDM holiday music for the performer each hour until the time expires. Then I saw Santa Claus and Ms. Claus along with the elf coming on the Kringle Carousel! I was being very nice to them and allowed them to board the Carousel. And they are 100% tall enough to ride themselves so I said, "Thank you! Enjoy the ride!" I was on the entire shift until 5:00 and along the way, my left feet kept getting tension! Ouch! But as of before, my job experience at Navy Pier sure is a nice thing to be.
